Baldwins Hill Primary School Safeguarding Statement

Baldwins Hill Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We strive to ensure that consistent effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children and staff at school.

    Designated Safeguarding Lead:

    Jenny Dabell

    Emily Webster

    Emily Barber

     Safeguarding Governor: Chris Tomsett

Baldwins Hill Primary School has policies and procedures in place to deal effectively with child protection and safeguarding issues together with recording and monitoring processes.

To promote a safe environment for young people at Baldwins Hill primary School, our selection and recruitment policy includes all statutory checks on staff and regular volunteers including enhanced DBS (disclosure and barring service) checks.

All staff are trained to understand their responsibilities in relation to signs of abuse and responsibility to refer any concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead. In addition, the Designated Safeguarding Lead ensures that all staff read and understand Part 1 of Keeping Children Safe in Education 2024 and keeps a record of when this was done.

All concerns are passed to Jenny Dabell who is the “Designated Safeguarding Lead” in school in compliance with the HM Government “sharing of information” guidance July 2018. Staff are required to report any causes of concern to the Designated Safeguarding Lead, or, in her absence a Deputy Safeguarding Lead who is trained to the same level.

Attendance is monitored closely and concerns are shared as appropriate with parents/carers, the Education Welfare Officer, Integrated Front Door and the school Safeguarding Team. Baldwins Hill Primary School will work effectively with other agencies and parents/carers when necessary to safeguard young people.
